I’m finally getting around to reading, and loving, Coetzee’s newest. I find that the three-sections-per-page format really compliments my ADD (ditto for the format of this blog). I’ve loved all of Coetzee’s new books, starting with Elizabeth Costello, but I have a hard time with the older ones. (Perhaps I should give Life & Times and Waiting for Barbarians another shot.) I do have a crush on the inventive aspect of the new stuff, though. I love that the book had three characaters– Senor C, the woman, and her lover– but that only Senor C’s two “aspects”– his literary self and his inner self– and the woman have a say.
